A subperiosteal implant is an implant solution that allows patients who have no bone at all, and who would otherwise need extensive bone reconstruction, to receive fixed teeth immediately after the procedure.
Subperiosteal implants represent an advanced solution for patients with severe bone loss for whom conventional implants are not possible. Because the implant rests directly on the bone, it provides a stable foundation for fixed teeth without the need for additional surgical procedures to rebuild the bone.
Benefits
For patients with no bone and without extensive bone regeneration, it enables rapid rehabilitation with fixed teeth that improve quality of life, nutrition and overall health.

Frequently asked questions
Is placing implants a painful procedure? Placing implants is a completely painless procedure, as it is carried out under local anaesthetic. The anaesthetic is the same as for a tooth extraction. All you feel during the procedure are some uncomfortable vibrations while the implant site is being prepared. Pain after the procedure is minimal or almost non-existent. Mild painkillers such as Lekadol, Nalgesin or ibuprofen are enough to relieve any discomfort.
How long does pain last after implant placement? After a straightforward implant placement, pain is almost non-existent. Our patients come back surprised, because the pain was far less than they had expected or heard about. With larger implant procedures such as All-on-4, subperiosteal implants or zygomatic implants, pain often appears in the first three days after the procedure, but it is minimal and easily managed with simple painkillers.
How long is the warranty on implants? In our practice we place premium dental implants from the most respected Italian company, Sweden & Martina. The warranty on the prosthetic components of the implants is lifelong. This means that, should you need prosthetic components in 20 years’ time, the company will supply them. The warranty we provide on osseointegrated implants is 5 years, provided you attend a six-monthly or annual check-up, depending on what is agreed. During this period we cover 100% of any complications that arise. After the 5 years have elapsed, the patient bears all costs. We also guarantee that, should your body fail to accept the implant after the osseointegration period – that is, 3 to 6 months after placement – we will place a new implant at our own expense. Likewise, you bear no cost for remedying any complications after the procedure. The warranty on prosthetic work on the implants is 2 years. Our goal is to offer you the best solution and to place implants that will last at least ten years and longer. Should any unwanted complications arise, we will do our utmost to reach a mutually satisfactory outcome.
Can the body reject an implant? The body can reject an implant, which is usually visible as early as 14 days after the procedure. There are several possible causes of failure and it is difficult to prove which one was responsible. However, we guarantee that, should an implant fail after the osseointegration period, we will place a new one at our own expense.
How much does the prosthetic work on implants cost? Restoring one jaw with 4 implants costs 5500 €, and 6500 € if you opt for 6 implants.
How long does it take to place an implant? Placing a single implant takes approximately 20 minutes to one and a half hours if it is an extensive procedure.
