What a dental implant is
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium that the dentist surgically inserts into the jawbone, replacing the natural root of a lost tooth. Once the implant fuses with the bone after a few months (osseointegration), we place the prosthetic component on it — a crown, a bridge or a fixed denture.
In Slovenian, two terms are used for the same thing: zobni vsadek and zobni implantat. At Koderman we place premium implants from the Italian manufacturer Sweden & Martina — one of the most established brands in Europe, with a lifetime warranty on the prosthetic components.

Why do prices differ between clinics?
The prices of dental implants in Slovenia range between 400 € and 1.200 € per implant. Reasons for the differences:
- Implant quality — premium brands (Sweden & Martina, Straumann, Nobel Biocare) are more expensive, but have a higher success rate and a longer warranty
- The implantologist's experience — a specialist with 1,000+ procedures is more expensive, but has a lower complication rate
- Included services — some price lists do not include anaesthesia, X-rays or local dressings
- Warranty — a longer warranty means greater risk for the clinic, which is reflected in the price
At Koderman everything listed is in the price — with no hidden costs.
1. First consultation and examination (free)
I examine your condition and take an X-ray or a 3D CBCT scan. Together we discuss your wishes and the available options.
2. Planning
Based on the 3D scan I plan the precise position of the implant. In complex cases we use computer-guided surgery.
3. Placing the implant
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia — completely painless. I place one implant in about 30 minutes. After the procedure there is no need to wear a temporary denture.
4. Osseointegration (3–6 months)
The implant fuses with the bone. During this time you can eat and speak normally.
5. Placing the prosthetics
Once osseointegration is complete, I place the final crown, bridge or denture on it.
Does placing a dental implant hurt?
One of our patients' most frequent questions — and the answer is surprising: no. Patients themselves most often say "surprisingly painless".
How is this possible?
- Local anaesthesia — the same as when a tooth is extracted
- Modern techniques — minimally invasive approaches with 3D-guided surgery
- After the procedure — mild or no pain, simple remedies are enough (Lekadol, Ibuprofen)
Patients who mistakenly search for the term "iplatant" or "implatant" on Google get information about implants — it is the same procedure that we describe in this article.
Payment from your own funds
At Koderman we accept cash, bank transfer and payment cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro).
Payment in instalments
For larger procedures (All-on-4, subperiosteal implants) we offer interest-free payment in instalments. We can split it into 3–24 instalments, depending on the amount.
ZZZS and dental implants
Honestly: the ZZZS (Slovenian national health insurance) does not cover dental implants (with the exception of very rare indications in trauma cases). The self-pay solution is therefore the only option. The good news: in certain cases the costs are deductible on your tax return — check with a tax adviser.
Supplementary dental insurance
Some providers (e.g. Vzajemna, Triglav) offer supplementary dental insurance that partly covers the cost of prosthetics. Important: the vast majority do not cover implants, only the prosthetics on them.
Warranty on dental implants at Koderman
For the implants we place, we offer:
- A lifetime warranty on Sweden & Martina prosthetic components (manufacturer)
- 5 years warranty on implant osseointegration (subject to regular 6-monthly or annual check-ups)
- 2 years warranty on the fabricated prosthetics (crowns, bridges)
- If the body rejects the implant during the osseointegration period (3–6 months), we place a new implant free of charge
Frequently asked questions about dental implants
How long does a single dental implant last?
An implant is made to last for decades — the longest documented examples function for 40+ years. With proper oral hygiene, a lifespan of 20+ years is very realistic.
Are dental implants suitable for older people?
Yes. Age alone is not a contraindication. What matters is the quality of the jawbone and general health. The oldest patient with a group of implants in our clinic was 84 years old.
What if I am missing bone?
For patients with bone loss we offer two approaches: bone augmentation (sinus lift, bone grafting) or subperiosteal implants (for severe cases without bone).
Do you accept patients from abroad?
Yes — we accept patients from Austria, Italy, Germany and Croatia. We help arrange accommodation in Ptuj and the surrounding area.
Do you accept patients without a referral?
Yes. We are a private self-pay clinic — you do not need a referral.
